Derek B. Alvarez is the President of Genders-Alvarez-Diecidue, P.A. where he has focused his practice in the areas of probate, guardianship, estate and settlement planning since he began practicing law in 1997. Born and raised in Tampa, Mr. Alvarez comes from a working class family that values family, integrity, respect, education and hard work. Mr. Alvarez and his family have many years of service and significant ties to the Tampa Bay area legal community.
Education:
After graduating from Tampa Jesuit High School in 1989, Mr. Alvarez completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Florida in 1993. He earned his Juris Doctorate at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas, graduating cum laude, in 1997.
Outside of work, Mr. Alvarez is very active in the community. Philanthropically, Mr. Alvarez has supported various organizations over the years, including The Jeffrey Modell Foundation, Life Link, Tampa General Hospital, All Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Boys and Girls Club of Tampa Bay, Make A Wish Foundation, Olive Branch Animal Shelter, the Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, LifePath Hospice of Tampa Bay, Children’s Network Fund, Operation Smile, South Texas College of Law Houston, the University of Florida, Jesuit High School, the Academy of the Holy Names among many other causes. Most of all, Mr. Alvarez’ greatest joy is spending time with his family, which includes his wife of 25 years Georgia, their two children, Cam [21] and Ella Maria [19], and their dogs Mia, Mac, and rescues Millie and Miso.
